The Nikon D4 clearly intended to compete with Canon EOS 1DX. I'm conservative with the date of the announcement, but it's a good chance that Nikon D4 shortly before or during the PMA in Las Vegas, where (10 to 13 January 2012) known.
With the next round of Nikon Pro digital SLR camera, I think, is a clear separation betweenthe D800 and D4. This is the reason why both cameras is probably with the same period in 2012 to announce. The D4 is the low amount of MP, high fps, high ISO sensitivity. The D800has a high rate of MP, low fps, the lowest ISO. This is a clear difference from the previous bid D3/D700 that the same sensor / technology.
